Paula M. Ashbaugh, MPT ATC
Paula studied Athletic Training at San Diego State University and San Francisco State University, and was a student trainer with both universities.  She has a Masters degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.  Her primary focus has been the evaluation and treatment of Neuromusculoskeletal problems through Manual Manipulative therapy and motor control through specific patient designed programs.  She works with both adults and the pediatric population.

“I believe every person, their injury, and their recovery are unique.  Therefore, my clients have a rehabilitation program designed for their individual needs.  For example, two people may have the same diagnosis, surgery and surgeon, but a completely different recovery protocol because of their interests, habits, jobs, goals, personality, and body type.”

Jason R. Lund, MSPT
Jason graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Exercise Science.  He then received his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver.  He has practiced in out-patient orthopedic physical therapy clinics since becoming licensed and is currently focusing his continuing education on evaluation and treatment of the spine, foot/ankle and thoracic outlet syndrome.

"I believe that effective physical therapy treatment is a balance between really understanding the underlying problem and being able to address the issue with hands on manipulative techniques, restoring muscle balance and stabilization.  My goal is to use this approach to return individuals to their specific functional activity level whatever that may be.”

Jan Schuster, MA, CNMT
After more than 18 years in event/video production, Jan “shifted gears” after a debilitating car accident, brought her to the doors of rehabilitation.  Duly inspired by her rehabilitation therapist “team”, in 1999 she returned to school to become a certified massage therapist, with a focus on neuromuscular trigger point therapies.  Jan treats clients for work, car, lifestyle related injured, pre/post surgical concerns and works extensively with thoracic outlet syndrome.  She is also certified in sports massage, and has training in Lymphatic Drainage therapy.

I believe it is crucial to remember that all areas of a client’s life, as well as their loved ones are affected when one is in rehab.  Different choices have to be made; life styles altered.  That’s not always easy to do.  While hands on treatment is important, at least as important is creating an environment that allows the client to feel encouraged, challenged, motivated, listened to, supported and cared for.”

Rachel Johnson, Office Manager
Rachel began working in an administrative position in high school.  Over the next few years, she gained experience working in an accounting position at her church.  After a diagnosis of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in 1997, Rachel was introduced to the world of medicine and physical therapy.  Living in Minnesota, she “commuted” to Denver every 3 months for surgery and physical therapy until 2005 when she became a permanent resident of Colorado.  She has worked for Ashbaugh Center for Therapy as an office administrator ever since.

“Having a degree in Interior Decorating certainly helps when it comes to office décor, but dealing with my own medical challenges over the years has helped me realize my true passion for people.  It is so helpful in my job to be able to identify with our patients so I can better meet their needs.  I understand what they are going through as I’ve been through it myself.”

Dan McKenna, MA, MCIAC
Dan graduated with honors from the University of Colorado at Denver with a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology in 2003.  He is trained in both individual and family counseling and is bilingual in English and Spanish.  He has been certified with the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) since 1994.  He has 14 years of experience utilizing biofeedback for rehabilitation and pain management and has several specialty areas within biofeedback including the use of surface electromyography (sEMG).  Dan was raised in the Denver area and enjoys music, road and mountain biking, cross country and alpine skiing, running, inline skating, hiking, sport climbing and spending time with his family.

"Whole mind, whole body, whole life" is a general philosophy of how I approach assessment and treatment with clients.  Biofeedback necessarily addresses the interaction between the mind and the body.  Through my experiences working with clients, I have found that in order to achieve meaningful, long lasting, and rapid improvement, addressing the whole person is the most effective approach to treatment.”
